Eyes on Me

The first time I was learning to play a piece of music was when I was a 9-year-old kid.

It was a Guitar that first touched my heart and fingers. I was mesmerized by how a strings and slice of wood with a hollow chamber in it, able to produce such a beautiful tone and melodies.

My big brother taught me how to play it, he was a high school boy at that time.

Not stopping with the Guitar, he also influences the excitement for playing PlayStation 1 & 2 for the first time. At that time, entertainment was rare and really expensive to access. Not to mention the internet was still a gem at that time to be found.

First, Harvestmoon: Back to Nature to begin with. Slice of life that shows me how we need to survive and manage everything in life, and work real hard to get everything we want.

Then came Yu-Gi-Oh: Forbidden Memories, a card game that aired as TV shows and influenced me to be tactical and devious to win over a strategy.

Then this masterpiece of beautiful, majestic and stunning 3D graphics game, the very first one I have ever seen in my life, the Final Fantasy VIII appeared. For me, it was more than a game. It is a rollercoaster of emotion, the very first time in my life I was engaging so deeply into a story. I am indeed in love with the characters, plot, gameplay, and graphics, everything about that game is amazing to me. Including a rare aspect of any game or movie to excel, the original soundtrack music. Final Fantasy VIII came with a pack full of solid album original soundtracks. One of the best songs I still remember until now is The Eyes on Me by Faye Wong. It was so beautiful that makes me also fall in love with the heroine of this game Rinoa.

Eyes on Me - Faye Wong (Final Fantasy VIII OST.)

I never sang my songs
On the stage
On my own
I never said my words
Wishing they would be heard
I saw you smiling at me
Was it real or just my fantasy?
You'd always be there in the corner
Of this tiny little bar

My last night here for you
Same old songs just once more
My last night here with you?
Maybe yes, maybe no
I kind of liked it your way
How you shyly placed your eyes on me
Did you ever know that I had mine on you?

Darling, so there you are
With that look on your face
As if you're never hurt
As if you're never down
Shall I be the one for you
Who pinches you softly but sure?
If frown is shown then
I will know that you are no dreamer

So let me come to you
Close as I wanna be
Close enough for me
To feel your heart beating fast
And stay there as I whisper
How I loved your peaceful eyes on me
Did you ever know that I had mine on you?

Darling, so share with me
Your love if you have enough
Your tears if your holding back
Or pain if that's what it is
How can I let you know?
I'm more than the dress and the voice
Just reach me out then
You will know that you are not dreaming

Darling, so there you are
With that look on your face
As if you're never hurt
As if you're never down
Shall I be the one for you
Who pinches you softly but sure?
If frown is shown then
I will know that you are no dreamer

After a long run of searching, I found one video cover of this song using a single classical guitar. His YouTube name was Lonlonjp. He covers every single song of Final Fantasy and other anime soundtracks using a classical guitar. I was inspired by him and started getting the urge to master this piece too.
After weeks of searching, I have finally found his tablature and partiture. I have mastered this song to certain levels by practising this piece over and over again for more than one month. I was really happy and might cover this song into a guitar piece one day. Until that day happens, I want to share the tabs and partiture for you guys so you can play this song too. I would be really happy if everyone could enjoy this song as I did in the past.
